Hello everybody!                                                                                         3 working days to release!

Leading up to the UK release and starting Friday June 11th, there will be 12 daily posts on our cool upcoming release “Armada 2526”. This deep hybrid ‘4x’ strategy game, from developer Shining Pixel Studios (lead by Bob Smith, known from the Total Wars series), continues the great tradition of space opera games. You guide your race from its first interstellar journeys until it becomes a mighty galactic empire. Along the way, you’ll explore the galaxy, conduct research, diplomacy and trade with the other races, found new colonies, maneuver mighty star fleets, and fight epic battles.

There are twelve different races, with each race possessing a distinct set of racial traits. Each race has at least one faction - some have more, each bearing a close resemblance to the main strain of their race but often possessing slightly different traits or victory conditions.

In these posts the twelve different races are going to be revealed, especially for you! This handy information helps you to prepare yourself for trading with the different races and spotting weaknesses and strengths in order to achieve the ultimate goal of galactic dominance!

CHAPTER 10: the PIRATE

Maybe it’s because of the fact that their origins are unknown, maybe it’s because their intentions are unknown or because their acts are unspeakable, but the Pirates are also known as the Unn.

More of a culture than a race, since they are highly genetically modified, and no two individuals are the same, they have lived in space between the stars of eons, since before the Promethians brought the hyperdrive to the other races. They survive by raiding, piracy, extortion and sometimes trade. Their base ships roam the stars without the need to stay within range of planetary bases.  Although they mostly live in space, they will occasionally settle a planet on a temporary basis to mine for minerals and construct new ships, or conduct research.

Beware the Pirate/Unn. They extract their price from all those who are new to interstellar space. However, their sparse resources make them difficult to play and they are recommended only for advanced players.

Although the majority of the Pirate/Unn prefers to live their lives in space, the Foundation has chosen to use a planet as a permanent base. Compared to other races, they are poor at planetary administration as they continue the traditional ways of piracy, raiding, extortion and trade.

Well, that’s it for today! But make sure to come back tomorrow for chapter 11; the Walden!
